Lower Dolpo trek is one of the most popular trekking trails, located in in Mid-western, the Dolpo region. Lower Dolpo is scenically and culturally awesome destinations, whereby you will not only explore the hidden areas but also spectacular and weird natural wonders. The Dolpo is the borders to the east and south by Mt. Dhaulagiri and Chure Himalayan range, to the west by Jumla district and the south by high mountain passes.

In addition, Lower Dolpo is also popular for having stunning landscape, ancient, isolated, and beautiful settlement, which has long been bypassed by the the mainstream development. You will be overwhelmed with incredible scenes and sceneries of the lofty mountains but also a number of wonders--pristine natural beauty, rugged and sloppy hills, unspoiled culture, rituals, and lifestyles of people living the region. You will have an opportunity to walk through restricted area mainly alongside of Himalayan lake, Shey Phoksundo, and pass through Nepal's one of the largest national park, Shey Phoksundo National Park, which is home to a number of flora and fauna including of endangered species of animals and birds. Dolpo is known to be Bae-yul which means a hidden valley in Tibetan language. It is a valley settled by nomads of Tibetan origin people. Therefore, the religiously and culturally, the region is linked with Tibet and the people here continue to trade with Tibet. The valley has boasted unique Tibetan culture and rituals and there are a number of Gompas and Bon Monasteries, where the Yak caravans are the main form of transportation. Dolpo remains to be living example of ancient Tibetan culture and rituals. A remote, spectacular corner and hidden Dolpo valley no doubts offers you amazing vistas of Himalayas and a lifetime experience.

Lower Dolpo trek begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj subsequently to Juphal airport in Dolpa and follows the trail north to the Dho-Tharap valley, and continues through through high mountain passes-- namely Num La Pass (5,318 m) and Bega La Pass (5,190 m) and descend down to Shy Phoksundo lake and then navigate all around the Dolpo region and finally get back to Jupal airport and fly back to Nepalgunj and then Kathmandu.
