Lumba Sumba trek is recently explored trekking destination in eastern part of Nepal, which offers splendid views of Mt. Manaslu and Kanchenjunga Himalayan range. This trekking is popular for exploring the unique and mixed culture of diverse ethnic groups living in the region namely-- Limbu, Sherpa, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Newar and Tamang and others, be amazed with unique cultural heritages and also the Buddhist monasteries, Chhortens, temples, prayer walls etc. The one of the major attraction of the trek is that you will pass through Lumba Sumba peak (5,200 m), from where you will have stunning mountain vista. You will have an opportunity to explore the traditional farming practices, explore the diverse flora and fauna including the endangered snow leopard and red panda, alongside of the trekking trail.

You will be able to explore the high mountain lake Olangchung Gola and Nepal's two protected areas--the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and the Makalu Barun National Park, which are home to various endangered species of birds and animals and finally also reach to the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), the world's third highest peaks and one another world's highest peak Mt. Makalu (8,463 m). In addition, you also can explore the two major river systems--Tamor and Arun River through rafting. These two rivers are the major tributaries of mighty Sapta Koshi River. The trail passes through the alpine meadow, yak pasture, steamy forests, low river valley, rocky and sloppy hills and pass through Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which is home to various flora and fauna including a number of endangered species of birds and animals in the eastern Himalaya.

The trekking starts with a drive or flight from Kathmandu to Taplejung and then begins trekking from the place called Fungling, the headquarter of Taplejung district and passes through cardamom field, alongside of Tamor River bank you pass Furumbu and then Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, you will reach at very amazing view point called Ela Danda (2,051 m) and continue to Selep Kharka, Olangchung Gola (3,208 m) a beautiful Sherpa village, upper Langmale (3,893 m) and finally you reach at first mountain pass called Pass camp (4,747 m) and then you pass through your ultimate destination Lumba Sumba Peak (5,200 m) and then you will have amazing view point capture scenic views and finally you will descend down to Chaurikharka (4,594 m) and then Thudam (3,500 m), Kharka (2,877 m), subsequently to Chyamthang (2,229 m) another beautiful Sherpa village, through steamy forest you descend down to Hatiya and then alongside of Arun River bank you will get back to Gola, another charming village, and then Ghadi (1,800 m) and finally get back to Khandbari (1,022 m), the district headquarter of Sankhuwasabha district, you catch a vehicle to Tumlingtar airport and then fly back to Kathmandu.
