Shaman trek is one another most popular and unique sort of trekking in Nepal, in which you will have an opportunity to explore the life and rituals of the people living the remote areas, at the mean time also incredible landscapes, terraced farm lands, mountain vistas and more.

Shamans in Nepal are known as Dhami-Jhakri who claims to find the lost souls of the sick by travelling between three worlds connected by an upside down tree called Kalpa, Vriksha, and the 'tree of immortality'. Similarly, they also say that they commune with the deities and spirits-both benign and malignant--inhabiting each world. During this trek, you will have opportunity to visit to the Shaman, the religious practitioners, who said to contact with the supernatural world. The Shamanism is practiced every part of Nepal. Since there is dearth of health institutions in remote areas, and thus the shamans in many part of Nepal play important role in treating to them who are sick. Even though there are Health Institutions, many Nepalese do believe to shamans, therefore they do visit them when they are sick before visiting to any health care centers. Shamans do not only cure sick people but also perform a lot of religious ceremonies such as spirit possession, soul-flight, ventriloquism, movement of objects. Therefore, you have an opportunity to observe the animistic ceremony performed by the Shamans at any part of Nepal, from a modern property in suburban Kathmandu to high mountain pass.

But, we the team of Adventure Gaurishankar Trek and Expedition have long been organizing Shaman trek primarily in two areas--mainly Gosaign Kunda, in the Langtang region and Dudh Kunda in Everest region, as per the availability time and interest of trekkers, because, this trekking is usually combined with pilgrimage site trekking. During the shaman trek in Dudh Kunda, you will have amazing mountains vista of mountains located in the Everest, visit to the Dudh Kunda is a sacred mountain lake located at the 4,555 meter height on the lap of the Mt. Numbur (6,959 m) in the eastern Nepal, while, during the Shaman trek in the Gosainkunda, you will have amazing mountain vistas of Mt. Langtang and Mt. Annapurna Himalayan region and also visit to Gosinkunda, the holy mountain lake situated at 4,380 meter.

Whichever part of decide to have trekking, you will no doubt be amazed and enjoy enjoy observing shaman's performance. They put the beats double side of shoulder and iron bells around the neck, and headdress of peacock feathers. Their body begins shaking as they mumble mantra, the iron bells around the shamans ring as they jump; the headdress of peacock feather waves widely, as they fling their arms over the patient. These features are explicit enough why shaman trek is one for the most popular trips in Nepal.
