Gosaikunda trek is one of the popular trekking trails in Langtang region. The trail is famous especially for exploring the sacred lake located in Rasuwa district at an altitude of 4380 m. It is one of the famous holy lake or Hindu pilgrimage sites across the globe. According to the legend, Lord Shiva had created this lake by piercing a glacier with his trident to quench his thrust while he was strolling around the mountain area. There also exist as many as 108 holy lakes such as Saraswati Kund, Bhairab Kund, Surya Kunda, Goshainkund basin to name a few. The hordes of devotees gather here on the full moon night of August to take holy deep in the lake. In addition, you will have amazing mountain vistas including of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m.), Pemthang Ri (6,758 m.), Naya Kenga Himal (6,160 m), Ganja La Chuli (5,844 m.), Langshisha Ri (6,427 m.), Dojre lakpa (4,381 m) and Langtang and Annapurna Himalayan range.

The attraction of this trek is that you will have chance to navigate around the mountainous lake called Gosainkunda, at the same time observe the unique culture, tradition and lifestyles of Sherpa and Tamang ethnic communities inhibiting in the area, as well as Buddhist monasteries and Shrines, located in the region. Many habitants living in the trail are originally from Tibet and are being involved in the trade with Tibet.

Gosaikunda trek begins with one day drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi and then the trail continues through beautiful settlement and lush and steamy jungle full of rhododendron flower and pine and finally takes you to Langtang valley, Kyanjing Gompa, from where you will enjoy with amazing scenes and sceneries of the mountains namely of Langtang Lirung, Ganjala and Naya Kenga Himal range and then continue to Sing Gompa and finally you you will reach at Gosainkunda and navigating all around you will retrace back down to Syabrubensi and then get back to Kathmandu.
