Driving about 30 minutes east from the centre of Kathmandu, you reach to the Buda Nilakantha, the starting point of Shivapuri Hiking. The Hindu temple of Visnu and His reclining statue attracts the attention of the devotees. To hike in the Shivapuri hill, you have to make a register and get an entry permit, then the rest of the enjoyment lies there forward.
The sacred Bagmati River originated near the top of the Shivapuri National Park. It is also the homeland of various bird species, more than the wild animals. It is always better to hike in groups there due to the wood’s wilderness. The total round of the hiking route is about 15 km. Nagi Gompa lies on the way, which is a good viewpoint of the Kathmandu valley and wonderful place for bird watching. Then the trail is more isolated and the rhododendron forest dominates the route. You have to pack up the needy things to eat and drink. No any places are available to eat. The hiking takes almost the full day. Before reaching at the top of the Shivapuri peak, you will see the water source, which is the origin of the Bagmati River. It is fresh and cool. The top of Shivapuri is a good viewpoint of the beautiful Langtang range. Some hermits are spending their meditating life there. It is also the height more than 2500, so the weather gets chilled.
Hiking in Shivapuri is more than a refreshing package, but also a wonderful trip for the nature lovers and also to view the birds. Spend your amazing day with our specific guideline. Please, contact Adventure Gaurishankar for more details.
