Helambu Trek is one another extremely popular and short trekking trips, located merely 75 km away to north east of Kathmandu valley. Helembu is surprisingly peaceful and calm mountain valley, settled down by Hyolmo, one of the indigenous communities in Nepal, who have their distinct language, culture, rituals, and lifestyles. Despite the close proximity of Kathmandu valley, the trail is quiet comparing to other famous trekking rotes in Nepal. Helambu is the closest trek to Kathmandu and no doubt is the shortest but beautiful trips in Nepal, as the trail passes through cascading terraces, charming settlement of Hyolmo, Tamang, and Sherpa ethnic groups, alpine meadows, dense rhododendron forest full of flora and faunas and no doubt offers the best views of the mountains namely of Mt. Langtang (7,245 m), Ganesh Himal (7,405 m), Dorje Lakpa (6,990 m) and other small mountains of the Langtang and Jugal Himalayan range.

In addition, you will also be able to explore the Buddhist monasteries amidst a rich and incredible landscape, virgin local culture, rituals, and lifestyles and many more. In addition, Helambu is noted for its scenic grandeur and pleasant, peaceful and clam environment, where you can relax and enjoy with local dishes and delicacies and discover this hidden mountain valley so as the virgin culture and rituals of the diverse ethnic groups residing here around.

Helambu trek begins with short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, the drinking water reservoir of Kathmandu inside Sivapuri National Park, where new pipeline is undercontruction to pump water from Melamchi. From Sundarijal, you will climb up to the entry point of Shivapuri National Park and continue through Mulkharka, Tamang village, from where you can have sweeping views of Kathmandu valley and range of mountains as well and finally you will enter into Chisopani (2,140 m), and then continue trekking to Golphu Bhanjyang through Pati Bhanjyang, Chipling, Lapchu Dandan and head up to Tharepati, subsequently to Melamchi Ghyang, Tarke Ghyang and then continue to Thimbu/Kiul, like this way, you make a Helambu circuit and then by public bus, you get back to Kathmandu.
