Panch Pokhari (five lakes) located on the foothills of Jugal Himal at 4,100 m altitude is a source of Khimti Khola--stream originated from the high altitude lakes namely Panch Pokhari and Jata Pokhari and mingles with Tamakoshi that comes from Tibet. Panch Pokhari trek revolves above the Indrawati valley that passes through remote and charming settlements and after about seven-day trek alongside of alpine meadow reach at the lake side, starting from Chautara, the headquarter of Sindhupalchowk, which is accessible by public bus from Kathmandu. The trekking continues through Melamchi Bazaar and passes through charming settlements of Tamang, Sherpa and other ethnic groups. Throughout the trail, you will be able to enjoy with parallel natural beauty, mesmerized with incredible landscapes, and no doubt have an amazing mountain vistas including of Jugal Himal, Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m.) Madiya (6,257 m), Phurbi Chhyachu (6,637 m) to name a few. Similarly, you will also have an opportunity to explore the blend of culture, wonderful natural landscapes and ultimately you will explore the Panch Pokhari, the pilgrimage sites or mountain lakeside. These are explicit enough why Panch Pokhari trekking is a life time experience.

Panch Pokhari trek begins with a short drive by jeep or public bus from Kathmandu to Chautara, the headquarter of Sindhupalchowk along the Kodari road, then the trail continues to Bhalephi Khola, and then follow a ridge to Bhairav Kunda, a holy lake located at 3500 meters. You can also return back from there to Tatopani through Kodari road or make a circuit around the head of the Balephi Khola valley and continue up to Panch Pokhari (five lakes) located at the 4,100 m altitude. After visiting to Panch Pokhari the trail leads to Tarke Gyang in Helambu or back down to the ridge of Panchkhal, the Kodari Road.
