Tamang heritage trail is one another recently explored trekking destinations in Nepal, located to the north near the Nepal-Tibet border between Langtang and the Ganesh Himal. This is wonderful and culturally affluent region steeped in Tibetan rituals and traditions. Tamang is one of the indigenous communities who have their distinct culture, rituals, languages, and lifestyles. It is relatively low altitude trekking easily accessible from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, where you will be be amazed with the picturesque village, terraced fields, stone slapped and peaceful valleys, from where you will have range of panoramic views of nearby Himalayas and peaks namely of Langtang Lirung (7,246 m) Gang Chhenpo (6,388 m) and Naya Kanga ri (5,846 m) Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m), including of Langtang and also explore the flora and fauna in Langtang National Park. In addition, you will soak in the natural hot water (Tatopani), where you will explore the religious and cultural heritages of Tamang ethnic groups, also explore the local fort, monastery, Manis, beautiful local arts and architecture carved in the homes of Tamang, enjoy the local dishes and delicacies, as you rest in the homes of them, relax and discover more about the local peoples and their traditions.

The trail is located between Nepal-Tibet border and route you follow, once was the trading route with Tibet. Tamang ethnic groups who reside alongside of the trial still are involved in similar trade that in the past, they used to barter the salt and mountain goad (Changra) with foodstuffs from the Tibet, They do similar kinds of trade, even these days. Thus, during the Tamang heritage trail trekking you will explore the traditional lifestyles of Tamang ethnic groups, the superb mountain scenery, incredible landscapes, beautiful villages to name a few. Tamang heritage trail trekking usually is combined with the Helambu valley trekking, Gosainkunda trekking etc, therefore, this trekking has been quiet demanding these days.

Tamang heritage trail trek begins either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and then the trail passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim and finally the trail ends back in Syabrubesi or follow the trail to Briddim village via Khanjim, where there is the facility of unique home-stay program. In Khanjim, you can stay as a pen guest explore the heritages of Tamang ethnic groups densely populated mainly in Goljung and Gatlang and there are the numerous of ancient Buddhist monastery, Chorten, manis, you can explore them and visit to Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang and have superb views of a dozens of mountain ranges namely of Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges and then continue to Tatopani, the natural hotspring, en route from Gatlang to Chilime and finally get back to Briddim and subsequently return back to Syabrubesi and drive back to Kathmandu.
